Maine Passive House is recognized as a leader in the passive house community and constantly works to further our knowledge of the latest techniques, materials and developments. Our strengths lie in having a deep knowledge of building science and meticulous planning and organization. We pioneer the integration of new building methodologies, carbon storing products, and energy efficient building practices, while diversifying the workforce through training the next generation of tradespeople. Maine Passive House has four certified passive house consultants on staff and we are corporate members of PassivhausMAINE, the North East Sustainable Energy Association, and the Living Future Building Institute.
The most important asset to any business is its employees. Maine Passive House places a high priority on increasing access to the trades, and have developed a reputation for being a just, equitable employer with near gender equity in the company - a highly irregular achievement in construction field.
We have piloted an apprenticeship program, and are currently working with the Maine Department of Labor to develop a Passive House specific track of training. Our aim is to pilot this model so that our wide network of peers in the industry may join the program. Every week we get emails from young and diverse individuals looking to join our company because they recognize us as a place where they may join the equitable transition to a carbon-neutral economy. We want to grow our capabilities to take on more of these applicants, which would require assistance in funding our apprenticeship program. Currently, those we do not have the capacity for, we direct to companies around us who are working on the same goals.
We are motivated and driven to increase access to the trades, improve the built environment, and move efficiently as possible to create a brighter future for our society. We welcome any partners who are interested in this path. |
